Since announcing his arrival with 2001′s Tiger Pop, indie-pop troubadour John Brodeur has released a series of critically praised solo LPs, fronted two beloved power-pop bands (The Suggestions and Maggie Mayday), and toured the nation extensively as both a solo artist and as a member of bands like the Morning After Girls, Soren Well, and Hector on Stilts. Following a successful campaign to fund a reissue/re-recording of his debut LP, Brodeur again teamed with Pledge Music to bring his latest collection, Little Hopes, to life. (The album will be released by Mr. Duck/Sojourn Records on August 13.) His first album of new material in four years finds the performer leaping effortlessly from quirky bedroom pop to epic guitar rock, and from matters of the heart to battles of the soul. Produced and performed almost entirely by Brodeur himself, with additional mixing and mastering by Grammy-winning engineer Michael Tudor (Duncan Sheik, the Strokes), Little Hopes is a confident, tuneful recording that brims with personality — the most honest representation to date of John Brodeur as an artist.
